The business was established by my father in 1962, having previously worked as an agent for Cyril Lord Carpets (no relation), widely regarded as the first person to bring fitted carpets to the general public. For the last 50 years we have traded in Bridgwater and the surrounding villages.

The original incarnation of the business was a small shop on Penel Orlieu until a fire destroyed the premises during the miners’ strike of 1972. The business then moved to a Grade 2 listed building in Chilton Street, first built as a flour mill by Spiller’s of Bridgwater but subsequently used for other activities as diverse as cider making and basket manufacture. In 2008 we relocated to a trade unit at East Quay.

We are a family business, run by Stephanie and Carleton Lord since 1981, who are still very much involved with the day to day operation of the business. We carry a large number of rolls of carpet and vinyls in stock along with hundreds of remnants.

We are affiliated to the Office of Fair Trading and abide by their consumer code of practice.

We feel that our many years of experience have made us experts in our field and we pride ourselves on finding the right flooring for each individual customer at competitive prices. We have traditionally very much relied on word of mouth and recommendation and have built up a very strong reputation for quality and customer service, having been serving 3 generations of the same family in some cases.
